Help protect the environment
For more than 12 years, InfoLaser has been picking up empty cartridges, old printers and copiers across Canada. This has saved thousands of tons of e-waste from reaching our landfills and those of developing countries. By remanufacturing cartridges, InfoLaser reduces the impact on the environment by saving nearly 3.5 lbs of solid waste per cartridge from being discarded.
A few highlights
- In North America, over 350 million cartridges per year are discarded in our landfills, and that number increases by 12% each year!
- Most of the cartridges in landfills are virgin cartridges that could easily have been remanufactured.
- China has become the world's dumping ground for e-waste like toner cartridges.
- In Guiyu, cartridges are burned and the city is submerged in smoke. One in ten children have severe respiratory problems.
- Surveys have shown that only 10% of empty printer cartridges are being recycled. Almost 90% of empty cartridges are incinerated or dumped in landfills.
- A laser cartridge thrown into the landfill can take up to 450 years to decompose. Some components made of industrial-grade plastic will take over 1,000 years to decompose.
A Green HueInfoLaser is making recycling a priority, and we are proud of our environmental performance. We recover all metal parts from used cartridges, including steel wiper blades, doctor blades, magnets from magnetic rollers, screws, metal rods and rollers. We also recover aluminum parts such as magnetic rollers and drums. And finally, we reuse packaging 3 to 5 times. WE RECOVER EMPTIES |
